How to arrive/leave São Paulo International Airport

Guarulhos (as it is known São Paulo International Airport) is the main hub of South America, the busiest airport in all of Latin America and destination of most flights from abroad.

It is amazing, but rail transport (train / subway) is not among the options of transportation between the airport and the richest city in Latin America. Even in Morocco you can use the train to leave the Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca City and São Paulo are still waiting for this quick and inexpensive alternative.

Taxi

First option available. Taxi is the most convenient alternative, but it could be more expensive than airplane ticket in some domestic flights. Consider using this alternative just if you have a lot of luggage. As you have already even been stolen by the airline, paying overweight, you will be stolen again paying abusive taxi prices to Guarucoop, cooperative that has exclusivity in providing this service. If you are traveling in a group of 3 or more people taxi can also be a great choice, since you all have the same destination in São Paulo city. Do not be surprised if the driver does not turn on the meter. All runs out of Guarulhos are fixed price. You can pay by credit card, but after price adjustment occurred in May 2012 you should pay in installments.

Executive Bus

A second option widely used by lonely travelers is the Airport Bus Service. Buses depart from Guarulhos Airport to main destinations: Tietê Bus Terminal, Barra Funda Bus Terminal, República metro station, Engenheiro Luis Carlos Berrini Avenue (Hyatt Hotel and Rede Globo), Faria Lima and Paulista Avenue and Augusta street (hotels). The comfort is still quite large since the buses are equipped with air conditioning, bathrooms, cold water, daily newspaper and they accept all major credit cards. As public transportation is still quite expensive. Each leg of trip costs $ 35.00. In some points of embarkation is still required to pay a departure tax. Below the departure times of all lines:

City bus

The third option is little known to the general public and it is our favorite because it is the cheapest. Most users are people from airport and airlines staff. There are two lines that link Tatuapé metro station to Guarulhos International Airport for R$ 4.45 each leg. Line 257 runs the trip in about 55 minutes, while line 299 (via Assis Ribeiro avenue) takes about 15 minutes longer. Coming out of the metro turnstiles turn left (opposite direction to the Metro Shopping Mall) and go down the first escalator towards the bus terminal. Beside the snack bar is the bus stop for both lines. See more details below:
